A Wine Tasting with Vinocity Events

On Tuesday, January 17, the PHLbloggers gathered at Architeqt Salon & Gallery to learn more about wine essentials & Spanish wines with Vicki from Vinocity Events.

Vinocity Events hosts interactive wine tasting events from events. Examples of this range from pairing wine with the time period of the art at various art museums around the Philadelphia area to a class where Vicki infused wine with various flavors to teach people about what flavors they could find in wines.

We learned about how wine is made, how we taste, the differences between old and new world wines, where corks come from, and what terroir is and how it affects the wines we drink; Vicki shared stories of phylloxera and champagne; and we were able to try 9 different wines.

We learned how to see, smell, sip, and swirl the wine to smell the aromas, taste the flavors, and appreciate the tannins. We had a chance to ask questions about whether or not bottled wine is actually better than boxed wine (not necessarily), how many different varietals of grapes their are (thousands), and which wines are supposed to be age (hint: most of them actually aren't).

All in all, it was a wonderful evening. Thanks again to the folks at Architeqt Salon for hosting us for the evening. It was the perfect backdrop for the event, a space full of warmth, fun decor, and beautiful wood. You can see some of our bloggers' social media posts below:
